Good morning Jacqui. Yes when my son came in with them I assumed they were from Gerry but thank you for letting me know. Have a wonderful week and stay safe?
Jacqui Martin
Hi Marie I guess you figured out that the hats I dropped off to you was from Gerry. She has about six premie hats done that I didn’t drop off. She needs a special kind of wool for the babies that I am going out to buy for her so she can make more. Thanks again for your support! Have a wonderful evening!

That's great thank you!
Jacqui Martin
ok great! So when I go back into Oshawa probably Wednesday I will pick them up and drop them off on your porch!
Rotary Club of Courtice, District 7070
It's fine we can take it and store it with the other's. We have a Rotary storage locker that we store items in after we have quarantined them for 72 hours, cleaned and sanitized them, they get packaged and stored so when we get the green light we can distribute them ASAP.
Jacqui Martin
Oh that is wonderful!! I will pass that on to her. I shall just keep what she has knitted so far for a later date. Thanks Marie!
Rotary Club of Courtice, District 7070
With the recent lockdown and Covid-19 third wave surge nobody is taking things right now except Cobourg Hospital will take the neonatal hats and mitts for the babies if she wants to make more of those. The hats so far that she has knit are perfect we have had no complaints from anyone who received them.
Jacqui Martin
Hi Marie Gerry has the hats ready for me to drop off to you. I will purchase more wool for her to keep busy. My question is what else do you need? Also she wants to know if the hats she has made so far fit ok? She did give me a bit of advice as to the wool. If you need her to knit more hats for the cancer patients I need to buy a certain type of wool. Please let me know. She was so thrilled by the thank you note!
Jacqui Martin

Jacqui Martin
Good Morning Marie I just picked up 35 more hats for Gerry and gave her the wool I bought for her this morning. She doesn’t know how to knit mitts so she is going to stick to the hats. I should be by your place within the hour 😊
Jacqui Martin
Rotary Club of Courtice, District 7070
Unisex colours are definitely best. Thank you
Jacqui Martin
Is there a colour in particular that I should buy Gerry for the hats and mitts? I’m thinking neutral- blue, grey, beige?
Jacqui Martin
Awesome Marie!! I will! Have a great evening!
Rotary Club of Courtice, District 7070
I am Marie Visser. I will put it on the porch in the morning if you let me know a window.
Jacqui Martin
oh wow that is great!! I will still buy her more wool, pick up your wool and bring it to her, then on my way home I will drop off her hats to you. I hope to do all of this tomorrow. I keep forgetting to ask your name! I will let you know the timing of everything tomorrow. Thanks again!
Rotary Club of Courtice, District 7070
Wow that is wonderful! We are still on hats and mittens for the homeless shelter. I also had a large bag of wool donated if you would like to take it to Gerry as well? It was donated 2 days ago so it's in quarantine for another day!
Jacqui Martin
Hello Gerry has used up all the wool I bought her and is ready for me to pick up all the hats she has knitted. She wants to keep knitting especially since we are going into another lock down. I will gladly pick her up some more wool to keep her busy. What is needed for the community? If you could let me know that would be great!
Jacqui Martin
Love coming together to help our community and the less fortunate!
Rotary Club of Courtice, District 7070
Thank you! You are greatly appreciated!
Jacqui Martin
Awesome! She will be so pleased to know she will continue to help the community! I’m so pleased that we connected with each other! Thanks again!
Rotary Club of Courtice, District 7070
That is absolutely fantastic. We were surprised to get the front page but very happy that the community was recognized on the front page for their outpouring of support. The items that we are collecting now are adult winter hats and mittens for the Gathering Place in Bowmanville to be distributed in October/November.
Jacqui Martin
I saw the news article this past Thursday. I saved it to show Gerry! She will be thrilled! Thank you very much! If I keep supplying her the wool ( my act of charity) will you let me know what is needed?
Jacqui Martin
My pleasure!

The address is 73 Huntington Crescent in Courtice and any colour wool is fine. Unfortunately we don't have anymore wool right not that I could give you to pass along to her.
Jacqui Martin
oh that is great!! She is more than prepared to knit whatever else is needed!! She is a young 80 something who loves to knit just to keep her fingers exercised. I can pick her up some more wool for her as she has used all the wool you donated that I picked up to knit the hats. I just need to know if there is a specific colour you prefer her to use? I would love to give you all her information as a thank you note in the mail would make her day as she is not from the generation that uses a computer or social media. Please just remind me of the address in Courtice. I will see her tomorrow afternoon and drop off all her donations on my way home from work tomorrow.
Rotary Club of Courtice, District 7070
Hi Jacqui that is great if you drop them off tomorrow we will get them to their destination. If she wants to use the wool to make more hats they will go to Ontario Shores who is in great need for their geriatric patients. Finally could we have Gerry's full name and address as we are sending out thank you cards to donors. If she is not comfortable sharing we will send to you in care for her.
Jacqui Martin
Would you please let me know as soon as you get a moment. Thanks very much, Jacqui Martin Parish Secretary at St. Gregory's Church - Oshawa.
Jacqui Martin
She advised that she has one roll of wool left and would be happy to knit anything else that is needed at this time.
Jacqui Martin
I spoke to Gerry today and she advised that she had 27 hats that she knitted with the wool you supplied. I am more than happy to drop them off and the lap blankets she also knitted tomorrow afternoon to the same house as I did before.

We do have wool for Gerry. We were hoping we could get her to make this style of hat for the Cancer Centre and Hearth Place? They give them to patients losing or who have lost hair as a result of their treatments.
Jacqui Martin
Happy Valentine's Day! Gerry was wondering if some wool might be available? She likes to knitting hats and mitts blue or beige. No rush she just asked

Jacqui Martin
Yes for sure! She has some stuff that I can leave for you to pick up when you drop off the wool. Let me figure out the best date to do that. Gerry "Geraldine" is so excited! Thanks again for your support!!
Rotary Club of Courtice, District 7070
Hi Jacqui the knitting was incredible. We are taking the baby hats to Cobourg hospital tomorrow. Oshawa and Ajax hospital only needed a few and Cobourg had none and were so appreciative. We have plenty of lap blankets committed now but we are stock piling adult hats and mittens for November for the Gathering Place in Bowmanville and Ontario Shores in Whitby. We definitely would like her name and address. We will get some wool together for her can we porch drop it to you in the next week?
- 👍Jacqui Martin
Jacqui Martin
Hello I hope the knitting that was picked up was ok. I have spoken to the lady who donated them and she would love to keep knitting for whatever is in need. I have given her the measurements for the lap blankets. You mentioned earlier that you would replenish some wool. Since she is 80 years old and on a fixed income any donation of wool would be greatly appreciated. She is prepared to knit whatever the need is. Thank you so much for your assistance. I have her name and address if you wish to send her a thank you note. Sincerely, Jacqui Martin Parish Secretary at St. Gregory The Great Parish Oshawa,

Oh you know what a porch pickup would be great as I have many things to do in the next two weeks. Everything is in Garbage bags and I would be pleased to leave them on my porch. My address is 8 Pomeroy Street Bowmanville. Closest intersection Liberty & Freeland. Please let me know what time I should put them out? Thank you so much! i really appreciate it!
Rotary Club of Courtice, District 7070
Please no apologies necessary. My condolences for your loss. There is no rush we just wanted to make sure we hadn't missed them. If it is easier for us to porch pick up we are happy to do to so as we are starting collections tomorrow.

So sorry but I had a death in the family. I will drop them off on Friday.
Rotary Club of Courtice, District 7070

Rotary Club of Courtice, District 7070
Thank you!
Jacqui Martin
PERFECT!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!I feel so much better that I can finally get these donations to the right people! Take care & stay safe!! Jacqui :)
Rotary Club of Courtice, District 7070
If you just drop them on the porch and maybe ring the bell our club President will collect them. Blankets are 36"X48"
Jacqui Martin
ok great! What size for the lap blankets?
Rotary Club of Courtice, District 7070
Right now we are campaigning for the lap blankets but can use mitts and hats as well.
Jacqui Martin
Also she always asks me what is needed. Can you please give me some suggestions. Would you just like blankets? However I can guide her to do what is needed would be very helpful for her and yourself.
Jacqui Martin
Oh my that is very generous!! Let me call her when I am at the church office to ask her if she needs any wool. I will gladly drop them off to the address provided. Should I knock on the door or just leave the garbage bags on the front porch?
Rotary Club of Courtice, District 7070
Thank you very much for reaching out to us and allowing us to rehome these items.
Rotary Club of Courtice, District 7070
You can drop them at 73 Huntington Crescent in Courtice. Would you like done replacement wool to give to the lady? We have ongoing programs for hats, mitts etc, we would be happy to restock for her.
Jacqui Martin
They happen to be at the church and i will be going there on Thursday to do a few things so I will bring them home. Where can I drop them off on Friday?
Jacqui Martin
Oh that is so wonderful!! I am the parish secretary at St. Gregory's Church in Oshawa and this lovely older lady loves to keep her hands busy as she does not have any family to knit for. My mother always told me "accept whatever is given to you even if you don't need it. You can always find someone to pass things on to you. The pandemic has really changed things and I promised myself that I would find a good place for these things.
Rotary Club of Courtice, District 7070
If you share your address with us we can collect them from your porch tomorrow or Thursday
Rotary Club of Courtice, District 7070
We can collect them from you and donate to the infant hats to the hospital the others we will donate to Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (our last campaign). They are always in need of those items for patients.
Jacqui Martin
Hi I have brand new dozens of infant hats, mitts & sweaters. An older lady keeps dropping them off to the church but we have no use for them. I was thinking about bringing them to the hospital but if you have any better ideas would you kindly let me know? Thanks very much!
