Financial Model Challenges
The club operates with a two-account structure, a Community Account for charitable service, and a Club Account for administration and operations.
All administrative expenses, including dues, website, storage, and processing fees, must be paid from the Club Account. Fundraising revenue cannot be used for these costs.
Although the club has had between 19 and 24 members over the past three years, only 10 to 12 attend regularly and contribute financially to club operations. This has created a severe imbalance where a small group is covering the full infrastructure cost for all members.
Structural Realities
Rotary International invoices annually in USD and requires full up-front payment. Our Club Account is not financially equipped to support split or semi-annual billing for members.
All member dues must be paid in full by July 1 each year. Failure to do so places the club's standing at risk.
Summary of Considerations
To continue operating, the club would need to raise annual dues to:
- $300 to $325 per active member
- $450 per inactive member
Additional steps would include:
- Re-engaging inactive members
- Recruiting new members
- Increasing internal fundraising to cover core costs
Even with these efforts, per-member costs are expected to rise if most members do not contribute toward operations.
Final Reflection
The cost of operating the club now exceeds what our current membership can sustain. If no viable financial solution is found, the club may be forced to consider dissolution.
This report is intended to guide an open, realistic conversation about what comes next. We remain committed to Rotary's values, but it is clear we are at a critical moment. The future of the Rotary Club of Courtice now depends on the action and engagement of its members.
