With our regular venue, The Bulldog Pub & Grill, temporarily closed for renovations, the Rotary Club of Courtice took a little fieldtrip to Fisherman Fish & Chips for tonight’s meeting. Huge thanks to Kyle and the team for welcoming us so warmly!
Our featured guest was Jacqueline Vieira from the Durham Children’s Aid Foundation, who shared the amazing ways their team supports vulnerable youth through programs like Holiday Hope, bursaries, and Dream, Dare, Do.
Great food, great people, and a little change of scenery made for a fantastic night!
Rotary Fieldtrip!
With our usual meeting space at The Bulldog Pub & Grill temporarily closed for renovations, the Rotary Club of Courtice packed up and headed out on a mini “fieldtrip” to Fisherman Fish & Chips—and what a night it was!

We’re incredibly grateful to Kyle and the staff at Fisherman for stepping in to host us. Their hospitality, combined with some truly delicious fish & chips, helped make this temporary change feel like a fun adventure rather than a disruption.

The highlight of the evening was our guest speaker, Jacqueline Vieira from the Durham Children’s Aid Foundation. Jacqueline spoke passionately about the vital work the Foundation is doing to support vulnerable children and youth in Durham Region. She highlighted several impactful programs, including:
- Holiday Hope – ensuring families can celebrate the holidays with dignity and joy
- Bursaries – helping youth pursue post-secondary education and build a path forward
- Dream, Dare, Do – empowering youth to dream big and access life-changing opportunities

Her message was both moving and motivating—a strong reminder that small acts of support can make a huge difference in the lives of young people.
We capped the night with laughter, camaraderie, and full plates. It turns out a change in venue can sometimes bring a fresh perspective—and a little extra fun.
Thanks again to everyone who joined our “fieldtrip” meeting. We’ll see you back at The Bulldog soon!
